Does it really take 100 pages in order to perform this?

I don't have this yet, but John I think there are multiple routines in this 100-page ebook. I expect that the bulk is the core method followed by nuances for the additional routines, but not sure how many pages the core method takes to explain.

I’ll be reading this tonight.

If I get to make this up (which I am sure I will) I am tempted to use the billets I got from 1914. They are currently out of stock but hopefully one day they will be making some more. They really are good.

About 20 pages for the main routine. Another 10 for the improved version. 20 pages for the one spectator version. Mist, which is a completely different effect and its variation Mist-Ify take about 15 pages each. The other 20 pages are foreword, introduction, final thoughts, credits.

I'm intrigued by all the "this replaces your previous ESP routine" statements. As far as I understand this doesn't incorporate a matching cards effect, right? Because you would need two sets of matching cards for that. I do think a matching routine is extremely powerful (Jan Forster's version on this website downstairs being my favourite). And I don't see how such a routine is replaced by this. The effects described here are quite different. Nothing wrong with that, but I don't see how ignoring the matching ESP cards helps. Kind of like saying the ambitious card trick will replace all your card tricks.

I still would love to see a performance!

Hi Unmasked Magician,

I hope you are well.

There are two routines in the ebook (MIST & MIST-IFY). Which are essentially match-up routines. Well, mismatch routines Smile As all the routines in I.S.P. are based around the performer drawing the shapes/symbols, you could easily draw 4 shapes and then repeat those shapes. This would instantly turn both MIST & MIST-IFY into a perfect match-up routine.

I am not telling people to throw their ESP cards in the bin there are some great ESP cards out there (I own a few).

Alternatively, you could take the match-up routines from the ebook and apply them to your favourite set of ESP cards.

However, if you wanted to stick with the hand-drawn shapes gambit. You could apply the shapes to business cards that are pre-marked, for an apparent off-the-cuff Jazz Mentalism performance.

Regarding a performance video, I would rather one was not shown to be honest. I.S.P. uses easy and well-known principles, and fellow magi will likely work out what is going on. Although, I did lecture I.S.P. a few weeks back, and the final phase fooled quite a few magicians in attendance.

Cheers,
Kaleb

What I mean is, if you are the kind of EDC-head that always has ESP cards in your wallet, or artfully designed magic-man-bag, then you don't need them, because I.S.P. is very strong, fooling and easy. Plus I agree with Kaleb that making the cards on the fly beats looking over-prepared to be Mr Miracle with a full 45 min act in your pockets when you are out for a coffee.

I read this last night and, being especially keen on ESP card effects, I was interested to see what Kaleb has come up with

As has been mentioned, the cards are ideal for making up on the spot which is a strong point. However, what particularly caught my eye were Mist and Mist-ify. These incorporate several twists on a principle I I use and much like. I will certainly be trying this out and experimenting.

Kaleb also gives some excellent guidance on using the PATEO force.

Overall this is definitely a meaty, well-written publication and worthy of close study.

Thank you so much for your kind and elaborate answer, Kaleb. Much appreciated. I can see your point and I have a better understanding now of your offer to the community. And I am tempted Smile .
Please check regularly if you are becoming the type of magician Jerry Seinfeld jokes about. (This applies to mentalists as well.)

That last sentence made me laugh out loud, great description. And I fully agree that that is a strong point of this routine.

Been out and about performing this solidly for over a week. Sometimes making the cards up on the fly, and at other times using a set I’d already made up. It’s really enjoyable, and the reactions to MIST in particular have been some of the best I’ve ever had!!!

That's good to know. I read Mist again last night and am currently toying with some presentational ideas/options.

Yes I have also been playing around with the final reveal for MIST Neil. Great fun. Kaleb is also very responsive to questions, ideas etc and nothing is too much trouble.

Let us know how this plays for you Neil.
