I am getting ready to buy some 12x16x1/8 tempered masonite boards to make my own slates. Can anyone, with experience in doing this,tell me if I need to use primer on these before I spray paint them with blackboard spray paint? Or can I skip using the primer and just spray paint them?

Just spray it. It should be fine.
