Thanks for all that.

It also puts performers into higher competition in the consumer market, due to the even lower barrier
to entry. 20 years ago someone would need to pay for a yellow page listing or newspaper ad,
with the internet there's free options that work as well, ie google profile or social media.

Thanks again.

So true. Performers actually had to promote, market, and advertise back then to get results, it was more active than passive. They established much better and stronger relationships as a result.

True, but not for those knocking doors and carrying a rubber stamp and stamping your info on the front of their phone book.Smile

Thanks for the reminder.

You right Danny. Many will never know how the phone book and yellow pages was the internet of the past. A little slower but you could flip through the pages and find out many things you needed to know. Information was just a phone call away.

When you stop and think about it, there are more ways to get your name out there today than ever. And most of it is for free. There is no reason a magician can’t get his/her name and info out in the public today. And the thing is, if people see it enough, somebody may just call. And all those that see it and don’t call may tell somebody who does need to call. lol

While I agree and this is true, the problem is most magicians have nothing to say if they were to utilize this as we have so often seen.

It is far better to have nothing out there than most of the pointless crap you see out there from most magicians. It is sort of like being better to be silent and have people think you are an idiot as opposed to opening your mouth and confirming that suspicion for them.

You can’t un ring a bell. The internet can not be taken back. Often, too often as a matter of fact, people just think anything is good. It is not. Those things never go away now. Part of me thinks it was better when our mistakes were for only a few and temporary.

The idea that people see your name and will somehow magically call is based more in hope than expectation. The internet itself has evolved in just the past 5 years. Nobody is going to tell someone who then calls.

Yes, the internet has definitely created more competition for some.

Perhaps it could be seen as competition, but more so just a bunch of sameness. Monkey see monkey do , which is what happens when magicians listen to other magicians.
