A friend of mine is going to be honored at a Society for Creative Anachronism event next month. I want to perform a special trick for him that will have him end up dealing himself a blank face card in the end and then gift him with the deck. Poking around Penguin I have seen some decks that could work, but they either don't have any gaff cards included or don't mention what the gaff cards actually are.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a deck with some medieval flavor and also a blank face to go with it? In a pinch I could try doing some card splitting, but my previous attempts are good enough for a casual look, but I wouldn't trust them to be unnoticeable in this circumstance.

Another option would be to take one of the aces, either hearts, diamonds or clubs and erase the ink from the card. Results can vary of course, depending on the eraser and the technique. But I've seen decent results.

I just searched for playing cards medieval and tons of results came up. Whether any or all of them will allow you to do what you want, I have no idea.
