Can anyone suggest some novelty cartoon effects to carry in case kids break out.
One of the last living 10-in-one performers. I wanted to be in show business the worst way, and that was it.

Cardtoon 1 and 2. It rules. Not sure what you mean by novelty cartoon effects though. What ages?

Search for playing cards with Disney, Looney Tunes or other popular cartoon characters.
Search for 1 - 2 inch figurines with popular cartoon characters. Show tricks using the retention pass. It looks like I am handling them an item, next it vanishes. It surprises the children and adults. I do that a lot with sponge bunnies.
Search for stuffed toys with popular cartoon characters. Add the items to your production box.

Hugh Turley, a prominent Washington DC area magician, recently did his lecture for performing close-up magic for kids for local IBM Ring 50. His material included a classic 3-card monte style trick for kids, using the "flap" method. It was very direct but effective, with some great added comedy touches.

Dan Garrett has a really nice version of 8 Card Brainwave with pictures of cereal boxes on the cards.

OH, I love cakes and adders. Such a fun Trick, when the kids shout snake and cake.

I also use "Catch That Tiger"

Little kids love seeing the tiger on the other card.
