I saw a Japanese Magician named Kotaro Fujiyama (sp?) doing a routine with paper butterflies which he kept fluttering in the air with a couple handheld fans.

I am interested in learning this technique.

I tried with different types of papers and tissues with limited success.

Can anyone help?

OK, I guess no one knows about this. I have been doing some experimentation with different types of paper with varying results.

I am possibly just talking to myself at this point, but just in case...

I was really struggling with this until my six year old daughter decided she wanted to make a paper butterfly. She made one and it worked beautifully. When I drop mine and hers at the same time, hers takes about twice as long to gently float to the floor.

Also, I found a fan that has a cartoonish cat face painted on the fan. I now have my patter involving a cat and a butterfly.

It's turning into a routine!

There is a routine,
AND explaination(!),
in a book from Dai Vernon.

A little paper back book,.
sorry,
not sure of the title.

Maybe go to 'the Card section' and ask(?).
