Well, the person 'linked' for replacement curtains did not respond to my email, so I went ahead and used the spandex fabric I had purchased on Amazon. Since I had somewhat compromised the wooden slats that hold the curtains in place, when removing them, I substituted over sized tongue depressors which I cut to size and painted black. Rather than using the original 'pins' to secure the slats to the box, I used small pan head wooden screws, which will make any future curtain replacement much easier. Hope this helps anyone who may decide to tackle this job.

Thanks, Ray! I've also ordered some additional fabric (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0725X8PDX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) which I may substitute for the plain black fabric that I have on there now. Disappointed, though, that I could not find anything similar to the original fabric (red with raised silver dots) in my box.

I had the opportunity to speak with Dean Dill's widow, who was kind enough to put me in touch with Norm Nielsen's widow, Lupe. She confirmed that Nielsen Magic (which owns the rights to Dean's Box) will be producing more of the boxes, along with selling replacement curtains, later this year. I discussed with her my issues with the construction of the original box, along with my desire to purchase replacement curtains. She is a skilled woodworker, and filled me in on the very impressive improvements she'll be implementing in the box. She also advised that she has engaged an expert in fabrics, to make sure that the curtains do not stretch out as easily as they did on the original box. I'll probably purchase one of the boxes she produces in order to support her efforts to preserve this classic in magic.

That's outstanding news rosariorose9. Thank you for the update.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

This gentleman can provide you with the original curtains (black spandex fabric with silver dots): Mike <mbarry@socal.rr.com>. I bought two pair from him. Shipped them quickly, and included new 'pins'.

Any updates on Dean’s Box?

Also, anyone know it The Ambitious Card is still making the carrying bags for Dean’s Box?

Thank you!

Lupe Nielsen has begun work on the prototype for her design of Dean’s Box. She did not give a timeline for completion. I recommend patience.

Thanks so much for posting this, Leo. I've contacted them to find out which size of their suede bags would be appropriate for Dean's Box.

Again, really appreciate the 'link'.

Received a VERY quick response from Carlos at DeSantis leather, and went ahead and ordered the bag. Will post my thoughts after I have received it.

Thanks again.

Received the Dean's Box suede bag from DeSantis leather, and it is top quality. Sized specifically for the Box, the exterior is black suede, and the nicely padded interior is red fabric. A large chrome ring allows the bag to be closed and an attached leather strap makes carrying it a breeze. I have a gig next week, and this bag will make transportation of my Box so much easier. Will try to post photos. First one should be of Dean's Box in the bag.

Lupe Nielsen posted a video of her cutting the fabric panels for the curtains on her version of Dean's Box. However, in her posted comments she explained she is still waiting on certain materials for the project. So, the curtains are the first step, not the last step.

No ETA was given for the completion of the boxes. It's a waiting game for materials.

The curtains she was cutting were black with small white polkadots. She also mentioned she is making 100 boxes for her first run.

Thanks for that post, Mark. That fabric looks exactly like the fabric that Dean used in the second 'run' (2.0) of his boxes. The first run used red fabric. I was lucky to get some of the 2.0 fabric earlier this year from Mike Barry...

I have an original box, or I had. It has gone missing, so it's either burried under some boxes or I left it at a gig. What a great piece of magic. I guess I'll have to find one or build some type of replacement for personal use.
