Lawrence,

thank you very much. I think I figured out how to spend my spare time when not spending time with family on the Thanksgiving Holiday

I just realized that my list ommitted Eddie Fechter's sponge ball routine, which is the only routine that Jerry Mentzer forgot to report in the Eddie Fechter's work. It came to us through Joe LaMonica who taught it to Paul Lelekis. Sorry for this shortcoming

Lawrence, Thank you so much! I am just starting to learn sponge ball magic and this is a great resource of information. Thanks for taking the time to put all this together and posting it here. Lynn

The World's Greatest DVD "Sponge Balls" has a bunch of great routines on it with some good teaching as well from some of the best in a business at a good price. It glosses over some sleights though and assumes little knowledge. I wouldn't pick up this DVD to learn a retention vanish but when things are pieced together it's nice to see how others have structured their routines.

There are a few good other sources such as SPONGE by Jay Noblezada which teaches a bunch of great fundamentals such as vanishes, productions and a couple simple routines.

I really like both of these. I like the part with Darwin on Noblezada's SPONGE.

As for "World's Greatest" DVD on Sponge Balls, in my opinion it is excellent. It has a lot of routines, many more than the other World's Greatest DVDs. I think Steve Dacri is on there and he gives great tips in his explanation.

I suggest that a staff member make this a sticky topic, since this is the probably the most comprehensive list on sponge balls EVER.
Are you watching closely?

The biggest wow by far, He gets in this routine, is the first jump to the spectators hand. That is in the Middle of the routine. The rest of the routine, the reactions gets weaker and weaker..Hmm

I recommend Daryl's sponge ball DVD series, starting with the "Essentials in Sponge Ball Magic" followed by his new 4 volume "Master" set. These cover all the basics, routining tips and theory and tons of different routines with the little critters.
Barnhardt: You have tested this theory?
Klaatu: I find it works well enough to get me from one planet to the next.

I am writing this perhaps mainly to bring this excellent thread some deserved attention. the video above is hilarious, absolutely.
also look at Lawrence's long list of sources and notes. wow what a treasure for those who want to learn or at least to know some of the history and contributors to sponge magic.

Thanks for resurrecting this. That last video, I think, is fantastic! The list(s) is (are?) something to sift through for many weeks to come!

It would be interesting to see what routine you decide on.
