This is my first post here. Hope you guys will be able to help.

I'm looking for an effect that I believe Ali Bongo created.

Essentially the performer has a member of the audience on stage. Puts a bag on their head, the kind used for presents (I believe it is).

The spectator is also holding a bunch of balloons that are all different in colour (I think 5 or 6 are held).

The performer is then blindfolded and has their back turned away from the spectator.

The spectator then pops a balloon of their choice, the performer knows what colour the balloon is. This continues until only one is left, the performer getting each colour correct every time.

I've done a search here, but to be honest I don't really know what I'm searching for. I don't know what the trick is called even.

If anyone knows what this is and where I could find it please do PM me rather than post on the open forum.

Sucks when you read a routine and see right through it. This would work well with something I'm doing. What is the feeling of me performing this without truly knowing his method but being able to achieve the same thing with what more than likely IS his method?

I believe the effect was a "Do as I Do" type routine with the magi replicating what the spectator does. ie: which color balloon was popped first, stc. So, both wore bags to to prevent them from seeing what the other was doing.

Ali Bongo's balloon thing was also in the first Mindful Mentalism book by Paul Hallas.

I saw ali bongo lecture many years ago and this sounds similar to a routine he performed. If it is the bag is part of the method.

This was also sold as a single trick. Included the bags, balloons, pins, one sheet of instructions, and gimmick. I own it.

I think this would work very well with my Ends Of The Line, which can be used with balloons (can be used with almost anything actually)
I might look into a combination of these two things.

Can’t recall who performed it but this routine was definitely performed on British TV within the last year or two. I believe it was the program where magicians were put against each other in a contest where the group decided the winner who ultimately won a TV deal (could be wrong though). I believe this was the same show that Andy Gladwin first performed his giant balloon routine.
