My recent inquiry as to where someone could go to see a theatrical seance or bizarre magic show for the public in So. Cal and the lack of response started me wondering. Where IS all of this being performed? Consider this the start of a thread to give notice of either one time or ongoing bizarre magic shows. It can be anywhere, not just in California or the US.

So, where can we see you all do your stuff?

I'll start it off, but it is for the future. It looks like I will be doing another show off-Broadway here in NYC, but it won't be opening until the fall of 2010. It will be something that the people in this forum will like.

Todd, they will drool themselves to a dehydrating death, twitching with glee, the whole time! And then they'll become your props!

Hi Todd,

I shall be performing my William Warlock, 'Terrifying Tales' on 30th. 31st. October at the Blackpool Grand Theatre (Lawrence House Studio) at the conclusion of a week long 'Spookfest'. And on the following night (1st Nov.) at The Running Pump' Hotel in Catforth (Nr. Preston, Lancs).

All in the u.k. of course but it would be great to see some of the guys on this forum.

Check out: http://www.supernaturalevents.co.uk/terror_tales.html

For details.

Happy Haunting!

BTW: Catforth was the home of Meg Shelton, the Fylde Witch. She is buried under a boulder stone in a perpendicular position, upside down in a nearby churchyard!

I'll tell you the story sometime!

My show, Supernatural Chicago, is in its sixth straight year of performances at Chicago's landmark (and reputedly haunted) Excalibur nightclub. You can read all about it (and even see the 2-minute promo video) by visiting http://SupernaturalChicago.com

I will next be appearing in My Living Room, same place as last time, with the same audience of disinterested and semi-comatose friends and drunk neighbors, but hey, Todd, if you show-up, YOU get the Comfy Chair!--that's a promise buddy!

I will have my one and only public appearance in April 2010 at 'The Gathering' in Livermore (NorCal) as Guest Of Honor. That's about as Bizarre as it gets.

Since the opportunity is here, I'll take it!

We are preparing for the 17th season (my 12th) of Castle Blood's Halloween Adventure Tours(tm). We are open every weekend evening in October as well as the last two Sunday afternoons for family "no scare" matinee tours.

Guests spend approximately 1/2 hour with Castle Denizens, including a guide, who help or prevent them from accomplishing their task for the evening: collecting three talismans to help them win the reward of becoming Honorary Vampyres.

I've been hard at work scripting and/or design of original effects that help with the progression of the storyline. This year, three primary effects involve Spirit Communication, participation in a Vampyre Ritual, and the reconstitution of Vampyre Blood into a more useful (and solid) form. These effects are taught to several Denizens (Cast Members) who will perform them in specific set locations 30-50 times each night. When I have the time (difficult to pull off these days because I'm also heavily involved on the management level) I also perform strolling magic for mortals in the queue and Courtyard areas.

And...good, bad, or fish...I can be seen most Saturday nights on RTV as a part of the cast of Castle Blood's Midnight Monster Hop. We are televised in over 100 media markets in the US every weekend, most likely including yours. The show itself is as campy as most other "horror host shows," but it has been fun both designing and performing the magic for these episodes. (I'm not in every episode and I don't perform magic in every episode, but there is a better than fair chance that you will see Professor Scrye at some point during most of the shows.) Other magicians featured on currently available episodes include Ron Fitzgerald and Dan Roebuck as well as our own cast performing various effects.

For more info:

Thanks, Todd, for the additional opportunity for us to promote our own shows!

This October, I'll be bringing my Halloween show to the Dawes House museum in Evanston, Illinois, just north of Chicago. Here's the official info:

Haunting History brings the Spirits Of Halloween to the Dawes House!

What do you get when you combine a gorgeous turn-of-the-century mansion with the impish imagination of magician David Parr? You get Haunting History, a unique interactive Halloween experience, equal parts history and mystery!

Explore the corridors of the Charles Gates Dawes House, completed in 1895, and enter a shadowland where fact and folklore intermingle in surprising ways. Each room offers an encounter with the strange and supernatural: objects move of their own accord; cryptic messages are conveyed by invisible hands; hidden thoughts are revealed. What bewitching mystery waits around the next corner? There's only one way to find out: follow David Parr.

You'll find that Mr. Parr is uniquely qualified to host an evening in celebration of the mysterious. In addition to his skills as an actor and magician, he brings to the role a dash of gallows humor, a penchant for the macabre, and an uncanny eye for the odd aspects of the past. Urban legends, poltergeists, and psychic powers are his Halloween treats, and he'll share them with you!

"Halloween is my favorite holiday," says Parr. "But it seems like most Halloween activities are aimed at children or teenagers. There are plenty of grownups who enjoy dressing up in costumes and listening to ghost stories as much as I do. Why let the kids have all the fun? It's our turn."

Which is Mr. Parr's way of saying that no one under age seventeen will be admitted to Haunting History. It's Halloween for grownups!

Haunting History takes place at the Evanston History Center at The Charles Gates Dawes House: 225 Greenwood Street, Evanston, Illinois. Admission: $20 (EHC Members Night, October 27, Admission for EHC Members: $15) Tickets are limited, so call right away to reserve yours! For tickets and information, please call the Evanston History Center: (847) 475-3410. No one under age seventeen admitted.

Thursday, October 22, 7 pm, 8 pm
Friday, October 23, 7 pm, 8 pm, 9 pm
Saturday, October 24, 7 pm, 8 pm, 9 pm
Tuesday, October 27 (EHC members discount night), 7 pm, 8 pm
Thursday, October 29, 7 pm, 8 pm
Friday, October 30, 7 pm, 8 pm, 9 pm
Halloween: Saturday, October 31, 7 pm, 8 pm, 9 pm

I will be a guest performer at Jeff McBride's Magic and Meaning Conference in late October. He has booked me specifically for the evening of the 22nd, but I'll be around for a lot of it, and I'll also perform "here and there" during the event.

Also, I will tentatively perform with Jerome Finley and Johnny X at Salt Lake City's Spooky Soiree.

The website is not yet updated from last year as we have just barely stated our intent to perform, but it should be updated within a week or so. Check it then.

Our season starts tonight. "Night of the Vampyre" gives mortals a glimpse into Castle Blood's vampyre lore.

Highlights for this year include a lighter spirit Q&A with a Wenger Spirit Bell and two original effects. One is a Vampyre Ritual in which a Cameo transforms twice. I had custom cameos made to feature the classic lady's image, a skeletal version, and a red skeletal version. Finally, our Experimentorium will be reconstituting Vampyre Blood into relics and artefacts destroyed in the process of "killing" a Vampyre.

The actors I have working these scenes are very talented and do a good job with both the script and the effect. In addition, Ron Fitzgerald and Bill Baldwin will be with us this weekend. Ron's name is known here. Bill is a Buffalo, NY area performer who has worked for Paul Osborne and is a Ringling Clown College Graduate.
Unfortunately, I only have both of these gentlemen for the weekend as they have busy October schedules.
