Been using Twitter to explore ways of looking at what 'magic' is or is not. Mostly 'is' to start.

You may want to examine it for yourself. What do YOU think that magic is or is not? For example:

Magic is the intrusion of the unexpected into a realty that one trusts. Wadded up dollar bills don't float about when asked.

Science AND everyday life is made possible in that all of us who are not insane EXPECT that the "...future will be like that past." But, the future being like the past is not something that can be observed and thus must be taken on faith.

We all trust on a Inductive level that if we wad up dollar bills and toss them into the air, that they will without fail.....fall to the ground. If you thought for a moment that they in might NOT fall to the ground in the normal course of things to be consistent you could not enter that sciences and no one would of a certainty want you to work on sending folks into space.

It's the apparent contravention of what we know to be Inductively true, ie. that wadded dollar bills ALWAYS fall to earth, that makes a floating dollar bill such an amazing sight and the inventor of the I.T.R. so well off financially.

We are not shocked or amazed by what we expect to happen, but by what we do NOT expect to happen! The more unexpected the more powerful the AFFECT upon the audience.
