Well, I'm interested to know how much this book is worth. It's OOP just like the other Garcia books, but I am not sure that this book holds the same "high status" as the other ones. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Luke

The title of the book is "The Elegant Card Magic of Father Cyprian". It was printed in 1980 and sold for $12.50

Why do you keep asking what books are worth ?

Does it matter to you? It's my own business, thank you.

I think, maybe..... 1/100 of a cent. I could be wrong though.

It's worth whatever someone pays for it.

Seriously. I remember when I was attempting to sell my Marlo RCM, you PM'd me and said I was asking too much.

Well, it sold. No problem.

Best advice -- or, rather, my advice to you this time -- is post in the forum, set a price, and see what happens. You might be surprised. Smile

I purchased the book, checked it out ( no good) and sold it on E-Bay. If you do not have, don't get it. If you do have it, get rid of it..One of the worst card books I ever had.

Would you care to elaborate on why... Cyprian had some great work. I myself am wondering if this book is available frome anywhere?

Since I sold the book I cannot remember exactly, but as I recall the magic appeared to be filler type effects. By that I mean the stuff left-over after the good stuff has been published.

Finally had time to go through the book again.

15 tricks and 1 sleight.

Frank Garcia's very ordinary writing style and lack of credits describes some,I thought, fairly effective magic. None of the tricks require much technical skill. A few use minimal gaffs and/or setups. Many of the effects have been republished by others with newer technique.

Swindle Cut Aces - A quick four ace revelation.

The One Handed Cut & The Two Handed One Handed Cut - Discussion of the Charlier Pass

The Spectator Cuts The Aces - Spectator cuts to 4 aces with different backs

Suitcase Charlie - The One Handed Gambler - Small setup, clever presentation

The Solid Gold Prediction - a minor variation on Red Hot Mama

Psychological Card to Pocket - Spectator removes signed selection from performer's pocket

The Spectrum Effect - Double card match

Any Four of A Kind - The production of any 4 of a kind named by a spectator.

Four Ace Quickie - exactly what the title says

Quick Change - Variation of the KM move

Multiple Surprises - 4 Ace production with a kicker

Super Shuffle Four Ace Trick - 4 ace production + Triumph

Roll Your Own - Easy variation of Roll Over Aces

Hofzinser's Departure - Hofzinser's Ace Trick variation

Royal Mounted Monte - Monte type routine with a kicker

The Poetry of Magic - Essay on card magic

On the whole, it was worth the $12.50 I paid for it.

It is a fantastic book.
And there is a gem in there worth 100 times the price of the book.

And beautifully illustrated by Richard Kaufman. I'll never part with my copy.

Frank's writing style was precise, and elegant.

Solid Gold Prediction is more like an open prediction or stop trick.

Yes it is! I've used this with a Tarot deck and it's wonderful! Choose a Tarot card you want the spectator to stop at, for example the Two Lovers card, the Fool, or Death. Presentational possibilities here.
