Guys what I meant was an explanation of what the different supplements are - are they switches or acts, or effects, or what?

There is a description of the book and the supplements on this page.

That’s a good question.

I plan to eventually release a hard copy, but not until I have released all the supplements in the queue.

I’ve been working on another project lately, which has indirectly kept me from working on supplements in-progress.

That, of course, further delays work on the eventual hard-copy. Unfortunately, I don’t expect to have a hard-copy available within the next 12 months.

Sorry about the delay,

"Switchcraft" is a splendid eBook. I fell in love with it when I first opened it up (with Adobe). It has over 300 pages. I really like the true photos that are shown. That is a eBook you can't go wrong with.

Mentalist have falling in love with "Switchcraft" the same way Magicians have falling in love with "Switch." It does not show only 5 or 6 billets, it shows tremendously more.

When you see the price, don't let it fool you. You will see how that eBook got it's name when looking at the index.

I usually stay a lot on the Café helping others this time of night so I can see more smiles on members faces. But please forgive me but I will have to leave and study "Switchcraft." I'm so sorry.

Thank you so much Dynamike and Chet!!

A quick update on the supplements and other projects…

The “Secrets of the Masters” supplement is still in progress. I can’t believe it has been over a year since I started it last fall. It’s getting really big and I think it will be worth the wait. In a worst case scenario, I may split it up into several pieces.

A mentalist, author and fellow Café Member (all one great guy) sent me a brief description of his clever approach to billet reading. He generously offered to write it up as a contribution to Switchcraft. If all goes well, it will be the next supplement.

The other joint project is also still in progress. I keep on rotating between working on it and “Secrets of the Masters.”

Elliott, at the risk of getting flamed by everyone on The Café, have you considered charging a small something for these supplements?
Even someone like me with my major leftist, socialist leanings is starting to get a little uncomfortable with these freebies. I never expected you to do this. I'm of course very grateful but it feels unfair.

Thanks Dan, I enjoy putting the material out.

A lot of people have recommended raising the price, charging extra for the supplements, etc.

While, I have no plans to do so at the moment (maybe I shouldn’t write that,) it does say on the web site that the price and free e-book offers are subject to change at my discretion…

So order your copy today!! Smile Smile

Dan:

I agree with you 100% he is giving his life away for pennies instead of dollars. It is his choice but heck even if he just charged $1 per update (almost everyone would pay that for sure) he could make some money for his time instead of giving it away for free.

His choice. Flame away if you must.

This is starting to sound like that Sanctum thread Smile

Pricing is my call. That said, feel free to send me as much as you like. I’ve never been one to turn down cold hard cash. A couple million would be really nice.

I know pricing is your choice Elliott, that is why I said it was your choice. Course if my friends saw me doing something stupid like throwing money in a toilet and flushing it or working at a job for no pay then I'd hope they would say something.

Enjoy the praise and best of luck.

Tim

PS: I haven't been to the Sanctum in over a year, hell up until a week ago I forgot about this place again. But I got what I needed so off to the abyss for a while again shortly.

I was referring to the 7/26/07 Sanctum thread you started, titled “Why do we cheat ourselves?”, on this very subject.

I would not jump to assume that I am "doing something stupid."

I am building customer satisfaction and continuously adding content and value to the book.

I have no particular interest in making a couple hundred dollars selling little e-books for a few weeks at a time.

Ultimately, I plan to have a comprehensive product that people will still buy and read five years from now.

That’s not “stupid.” It’s long term planning.

Actually E this thread isn't like that one - cause I didn't start it. Your customers are telling you to charge more and let them pay for updates, not me.

Look at Richard Osterlind. He charges for every update/addition of his product. No one thinks less of him for it. Hell I just dropped some serious money on his DVD series - all of them. And if I like them I bet I pony up for some of his ebooks, and if I like those then I'll buy more of his stuff. It is called a business backend and is where the real money is made in business.

He isn't giving it away, and you shouldn't either. You want to add stuff on, fine do it but get paid for your work.

Once you get the $20 then from that moment on you're working for free for the rest of the time in the relationship until you produce a new product to sell to them for more money.

Think about how many updates you've done on the book 5,10,20? Now figure out how many people have bought the book to date. Now set a price - say a buck per person who has bought the book and per update. There is the amount of money you have left on the table THAT OTHERS WOULD OF BEEN MORE THAN HAPPY TO PAY FOR. They all say you should charge more and charge for the update, not me.

Now I don't know if you're married or not but I know that if I take time away from my family money is involved. I don't do free shows and I don't sell my time with my family at a discount.

It's like going to McDonalds. They'll let you supersize your meal but it isn't free, everything extra cost. People expect it and don't have a problem paying for it.

I'm not going to convince you of this and that is your call. In fact I might have a better chance of getting the blind to see but I hope I can help someone else who is thinking of giving away their time and talent away for far too little or worse free.

Remember your worth.

Seriously E, best of luck. And good memory on the other thread, I had totally forgotten about that place and the thread. I wish you nothing but the best and I hope one day in your oceans of millions you can call me up from your yacht and tell me I was wrong.

Really, a simple gesture turning into someone lecturing a class act on how to run their own finances. And please, don't respond to this because I have no interest in arguing.

Elliott, the only work that is on the same standard of your in terms of an ebook in my opinion is the workers series, you are entirely right, I would be the FIRST to buy any of your future products.

There aren't enough gems in this ludicrously large magic world anymore, but Elliott is one of them.

Elliott determines the price, but we determine the value. Sometimes doing something just for the sheer professional pride in doing it is enough. Lucky us.

I just purchased this eBook. It is a tremendous value and the author should pat himself on the back for a job well done.
