Hi Guys,

I was just checking out Alan's website and thought his pieces were interesting. Any favorites out there in terms of the effect on spectators? Does anyone have Li Chang Boxes? Review?

Hi Ananda
The Li Chang Boxes are a clever set of boxes that "transposes" the miniature card inside from one box to the other. Alan was meticulous in the details behind the effects. I will PM you with more info.

As to favorites, I love:

Matched
Voodoo
The Talisman
Captive Card
Scarab-A-Scarab
Perverse Card
Mini-Mental

Thanks, George! It looks like you have quite a fine collection. I'll check out the ones you mentioned.

Best,
-Ananda.

Thanks for the recommendations, Rick.

Does anyone know if he does custom versions of any of these items?

Thanks,
-Ananda.

Alan usually does not do any custom work nowadays, though there have been exceptions in the past. The best thing is to pick what you want and ask him.

George - do you have any new favorites since your post in 2006?

Not sure where I was in my collection back in 2006. I don't think I had any of his discontinued painted pieces. To my last list I would add:

The Gillyman
Fool's Gold
Chan Chu
Siamese Ribbon
Block Buster

I would likely add both the Millennium and Egyptian Collection as beautiful boxed sets of Warner Magic, especially if you are into magic sets.

I just picked up Lightning Rod to add to my modest Warner collection. I love it. The simplicity of effect, but mysterious story line is perfect for my taste.
Love it. Love it. Love it.

Andy Martin ( http://www.martinsmagic.com ) turned me on to Alan's magic. His work is best experienced first hand. Photos simply don't do it justice. The precision, and thoughtful engineering that goes into every effect is simply amazing.

Thanks, George. I recently purchased Talisman, Jack the Lad, and Runic and like them all a lot. I appreciate your thoughts. Sam

I would add to the list of Alan Warner beauties ""Voodoo"". This is one of my favorites. The method is so ingenious and the craftsmanship so good that you wish you could tip the method. But don't. It's a very powerful effect if you perform this along with other mentalism effects.

Voodoo IS great. I love the perfect combination of mystery and strange. What a bizarre little object this piece is. As soon as you take it out people are curious.

Fool's Gold is in the same league of ingenuity as Voodoo, IMHO.

Hey George. I've been following your amazing collection for awhile. I aspire to have the taste that you have...and your income Smile

I saw the great deal on Fools Gold in the Make a Deal section. It is sooooo tempting.

I only have one...Die n Dice, but I LOVE it. Fun to perform and gets great reactions. It is chop cup -ish in terms of the the flow of the routine....has a great plot that you can have some fun with. The prop itself is beautiful and very clever.

My fave is the Wandering Mummy. The only thing I don't do that is in the instructions is the floating mummy. I don't like this effect as it tips the method.

Bill - How do you rate Warner's Mummy effect in comparison to Tony Lackner's Wandering Mummy trick?

If you had to choose between Li Chang boxes and Lightning box ...which would you go for?
