I like Rabbit in a Hat paddle, but in the end the rabbit disappears from the paddle and appears in my hand (a sponge rabbit).

Color Changing Knives - there are several versions, all good. One of the best kept secrets in magic is the Stanfield Knife Routine. It has a surprise ending that makes sense and looks great!
Bob Lodz has a good routine in print... Ron Bauer has a one knife routine that is superb... There are all the routines in Jose DeLa Torres Amazing World of Knives... The Merrill material in the Merrill Knife Book... Dr. Sacks Dice Routine, the original, from the Bruce Elliott Book, Classic Secrets of Magic (originally in the Phoenix Magazine), or the revised version by Stewart Judah, in Pallbearers Review, followed by the Vernon Dice Climax, from the Dai Vernon Book of Magic... I just bought the video on Dr. Sacks routine, and I found the move to be surprisingly easy to learn (once I grasped what heck he was showing, as I still could hardly see the move!!!). Very visual!! I can tell it's going to be one of my favorite close-up routines. I believe it does beat the Color Changing Knives.

I have the dream paddle but I think I prefer the changing color knives. There is something about using everyday objects that adds to the mystery.

Is Sack's routine the same as the one used in Ivory Connection by Reed McClintock. There is a demo of this at http://www.magicproshop.com

What about moonspinner?? the one that looks like a hypno paddle with an optical illusion of a coin materialising.. you guess it, then you produce the real thing.

There is an impromptu paddle move trick in Sack's book "Sleight of Hand" that uses a butter knife and a few pieces of wet paper. It may well be the best paddle trick in existence...and nobody uses it. John Carney has his take on it in his new "Book of Secrets".

I like to do a routine similar to No 2 pencil, but with a bic or similar ball point pen. I remove the cap and go into a routine showing the writing, wiping it off, etc. etc. and then move into recap. I only do this as an intro because I can not do the spin like Greegory Wilson, so it gives me an excuse to remove the cap and I find it adds a lot to the effect. Does anyone else do this?

Brandyberry's effect is great. I don't use cigarettes though. So I bought Joe Porper's Hotrod paddle. Same effect, very nice prop and can be examined. One of the few "proppy" things I carry with me in case I have to "show something"...

I think shattered is a fantastic effect, but have actually strayed away from it because many I know use it and I just don't feel like doing it as well.
I still use my "No. 2 Pencil" and it was really the first real effect I used in my walk-around with the paddle move.
