I liked all the stories and some of the tricks:
Dean Dill's matrix
David Regal's wallet trick
Earl Nelson's stuff
Backflip card catch was cool.

I hated the Buck twins stuff. The way they contort their faces when they do those flourishes just looks stupid.

The total geeks of magic,

They didn't contort their faces when they were flourishing.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the backflip thing in the casino. that was cool as well.

I watched it again and it's Dan Buck.
He moves his mouth and cheeks when he is doing the flourish.

I think it looks really funny.
Just my opinion,
James Linn

Well, personally, I was focusing and looking out for their flourishes/productions - not their faces...
But now that you mention it, Dan definitely owes you an official apology for concentrating whilst performing... That's just unforgivable.

Serioulsy... No offence, but I don't think anyone cares what your thoughts on his facial appearance is.
Both 'Molecule 2' and 'Real Time' are beautiful and useful productions.

Your right, the Buck's faces do twitch!LOL That's just funny. And it's annoying when you watch it over and over. yuck. I don't like their material, never did. Now I can't stand their faces either when they flourish.lol

I really didn't like this DVD. The quality wasn't well, too much filler, and for a flourish guy, abosulutely nothing useful that hasn't been done before. That magic was ok, I liked Nathan Kranzo, but the rest was mediocre at best.

Phantomace, just try your best to control yourself and stick to the topic... Smile

I really liked the footage from inside the Magic Castle and Ashford's 'Tornado Production' was nuts!
The Chef Anton bit was very cool too...

Not even Regal's Lucky 7s? That was the best...

Chef Anton was CRAZY! that trick shot that he did at the end of the clip... that was unbelievable.

Their facial expressions are all part of the performance. I'll bet layman care.

You do perform for layman don't you Jon?
Cheers,
James

Ah ok... Thanks for that...

So are these "laymen" the ones who we perform tricks to?

Thanks for the help...

Sincerely Smile

Not if the laymen are watching what they should be watching... the cuts. I have seen the Bucks perform magic and flourishes many a time and they have never contorted their faces. And if they did, WHO CARES!? They were on Hit The Road to teach flourishes... not how to keep your face in a statue like position. I think you are getting a little too serious with your Magic DVD's if you actually sit there and watch the performers FACE, not the magic.

BTW... Anyone interested in knowing, the Bucks do not, I repeat DO NOT, contort their faces on their upcoming DVD "The Dan and Dave System".

You lost me! Anywho the DVD was just like any other Paul Wilson DVD. Dry and Boring! One effect out of ten that I like.

Ok,ok,
That ace production by the Buck twin is pretty cool. I watched it again. I'll work on that and see how it goes.

I guess I just don't like the flying cuts that are really long. Just my opinion ok?

Back to the topic, all in all, I like the DVD.

I didn't really like the Paul Wilson effects on the video, but he has some excellent stuff on his other tapes and notes. His demonstration of Given the Slip was excellent. I liked his kicker effect, Punch Too though.

My favorite parts were Cary Durgin's backflip thing, Chef Anton's trick shot demonstration, the Rod the Hop demonstration, the Bucks segment, Lee Asher stuffing his face with doughnuts while Paul Wilson was trying to explain Uprising, the tour with David Regal, the Gordon Bean segment with the little tour of the Magic Castle Library, Earl Nelson talking about the "professor" Dai Vernon (karate, lol!), and the Joe Porper segment, and Steve Beam talking about the Trapdoor. The Bob Kohler segment was HILARIOUS (Lee, Aaron Fisher and the Steve Draun book, LOL!).

It's a shame Ashford Kneitel didn't teach his Tornado Cut. I still don't get why he said that he does Guy Hollingworth's Float pass but then does the Tornado Cut instead. The Bucks segment was of course, awesome. Dan Buck should have explained the Madonna (because he did it in the Bucks segment) but I've learnt it anyway, so... gotta love Real Time as well (the ace production by Dave Buck, somehow, they mixed its name up with Apparition Aces, which is an entirely different ace production by the Bucks as well, based on Ashford's Tornado Cut).

The Lee Asher stuff was good but I've seen better from him (Resistance is Feudal was awesome, but I prefer Trey Sheik which uses the same handling with the Marlo Spontaneous Add-on). Stuff like the Peppermill cut was filler.

Yeah, so I enjoyed the DVD quite a bit. Hopefully there'll be a Hit the Road 2 soon.

The first sequence of the 'Tornado Production' features a bit of Guy's 'Float Pass'... It's when the corners of the packets are suspended by the palms of both hands.
