Got your pics. It appears to be the Ken Brooke version made in GB with a larger globe than the appliance bulbs we used when we made them. If you have the globe and the packaging that is a good find.

I have the original Ken Brooke model. This was epoxied together. It had rechargeable batteries in it. You also got a charging unit that used the wall socket on one end and alligator clips on the other.

If this is what you have you have to tear the whole thing apart. I found some rechargeable batteries at a hobby shop. It is not easy to glue back together.

I do not have a recharge version, but I may take it apart at this point.

Well, after I messed with it in Photo Shop a little, I compressed it and uploaded it to my http://tabmanmagic.com server and then used the IMG code to display the picture in my message.

Do you have to original packaging?? and the other "thing?"

I had a couple of these that I swapped out many years ago. The main thing I didn't like about it was the light showed with a hot spot, not even like the smaller appliance bulb. The KB bulb had a neat routine though using scissors.

Not sure what the other thing is, this one does use the scissor to activate

Im not sure of the routine that came with yours but on the USA versions we activated it with a small stack of cards as in Scotty's routine from FYEO.

Steven's Magic carries these. http://www.stevensmagic.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=4746 As soon as I get some things finished I will be working on another version of this. Have to send the first one to Scotty York for his final approval.

That's great Ray. Glad to hear it. I hope you'd doing the US version for the US.

The only problem with the British bulb is that it obviously doesn't match the US bulb base so looks to be a "magic trick light" to the American audience and if you look in the photo from Stevens you see the hot spot. The American appliace bulbs look yards better.

My original looks nothing like the picture. The problem with the Scotty York version that he finally explained in his book is he used a Pen Flashlight that he got from a military store. Nothing made any longer like he discribes. I tried to convert a screw base, but not that inventive.

Scotty's version of the 4 watt nite light is great. Don't know if they are sill making them though.

You are so right. When I left Scotty's shop he gave me all the old WW2 flashlights he had left. There were a bunch of them but when they ran out we couldn't find any more. I made a bunch of them using a brass tube with pin locks but they were labor intensive so I stopped making them and it ceased being worth the hundred bucks or so I made from each one. I bet Ray comes up with something inventive. He's very good.

OK guys, I got it working, the part the mini bulb screws into is a brass piece that is threaded both inside and out, so you unscrew it and drop a battery in and Walah, it works, Now that I know it works, and is in great condition, I want to sell it, any idea what it is worth, I do have the original scissors that came with it, thanks Dave.

Thanks ray, So, I'm guessing $75.00, or I may keep it, it is fun to play with and I showed it a few times recently and folks like it.

It sounds like the one Stevens Magic sold when they 1st aquired the rights to Ken Brooke products. The original did not come with scissors, but I do remember Stevens have that offering.

So you have the 2nd generation, so to speak.

I would venture to guess this is over 15 years old, works well with a PK ring too.
