Have you considered the Retention Clip Vanish from Kaufman's Coinmagic book? It's very convincing.

Take a look at the variation retention pass found in Rubinstein Coin Magic, as well as a few other fingertip techniques. Many more taught in the book (as well as on the NYCMS DVD series, Penguin Live lectures, and any of my dvds.

The NYCMS DVD series also has retention techniques taught by Roth, Gallo, and Latta.

There are very many different retention vanishes. Most are convincing - assuming the vanish itself feels natural for your own movements. Much of it depends on what style you want, and whether you want to be drawing attention to the vanish itself or having it be very believable but not the direct focus. But pretty much any coin magician with any published up will also have a retention vanish; it's just about finding one you like and with teaching/instructions you think would be good.

Mostly in front of a mirror, and with your cell phone mounted to record video for playback review.
Other than learning to close your fingers in coordination with the sleight - it's on you to acquire that timing.

More importantly might be the reason a coin is transferred rather
than just picked up initially by that hand.

I’ve always thought the one taught in Bobo’s, along with Mickey Silver’s take on it were all you need. But of course there are many wonderful ways to do it. Smile

Find what works for you.
The real world taught me much.
Younger children and walk around work
taught me about angles.

Thanks for all this insight.

I've been in magic for a few decades now and aware (and have) some these resources.

The Fingertip Retention Vanish that I'm referring to and I'd like to learn is something Craig Petty uses. Here he is doing a quick example of this vanish at about Timestamp - 12:05...

Any thoughts?

That looks like Al Schneider's sleight done with the other hand making a grabbing motion.

Yes, Craig is doing Al's Snapback vanish. It's fantastic.

See at 1:04 into this link: https://www.worldmagiccenter.com/WMC/SHOWVANISHES.htm

It's totally convincing when apparently tossing a coin at the fingertips into the other hand.

I'm going to reference an old point from Funsway here:
https://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/view......art=20#5
I think you talking about a generic vanish here, as opposed to one that specifically employs a RoV and focuses on fooling the eye from the flash. Craig's has a little bit of a flash (as does Al's) but to me that isn't as key to the vanish as it is for say an Ukawa RoV or Rubinstein's ROPS.

As before, there are lots of different approaches to all of these vanishes - but if you're specifically looking for that one, then there's nothing better than Al's as the original source.

Ah, Yes.... Al Schneider!!! That's the one!!

I guess any of his Books or DVD's would have it. Any suggestions for the best "bang for the buck" on getting this Fingertip Retention Vanish and other powerful tools/routines that are "Hidden Gems"?

Thanks again.

Al Schneider on Coins was the first book that showcased his snapback technique. That action was the basis for my R.O.P.S. move and Variation retention pass as I showed in an earlier post. As for hidden gems, you can see many of the moves found in Rubinstein Coin Magic here:

Al’s Snapback vanish is entirely at the fingertips and has nothing to do with placing a coin in the palm.
