How do you bold text in a post? I've seen others do this in posts and I have never learned this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Easy, just enclosed what you want in bold like this {b}whatever{/b} you can italicize the same way {i}whatever{/i}

replace the {} with []

Dave was just using the curly brackets as an example. You have to use the square brackets to make it work.

Dave was actually using the curly brackets so the text wouldn't bold, because if he had used the correct brackets, said text would appear simply in bold type, and Dave's example wouldn't have demonstrated the BB code needed to get to that point.
Thus Dave used {text}, and noted to the OP that he'd have to replace the {text} with square brackets ... which is the appropriate BB code.
