Depends on your overall look.
I have seen some use the "John Doe Everyman" look (simple light suit) and look great.

If I were doing pickpocketing, I would opt for the "Willie Sutton" gentleman thief look: Pinstripe suit; fedora; pencil-line moustache.

A boyish-looking gent might opt for a Dickensian "Artful Dodger" costume.

In Indonesia, you probably want the "tourist" look: flowered polynesian shirt, bermuda shorts, sandals and sunglasses. Don't forget the knee-high socks! Pickpockets try to blend in with their marks.

Charming or "gentleman" persona wearing a classy tailcoat is a great contrast to the "theif"image.

However, dress is a very personal decision based on the persona you are trying to portray.

All the best.

I agree with jleavy. If you are a very ‘delboy’ persona when you pickpocket then dress that way. If you are a street style character then dress that way. If your smart and like to wear suits then dress that way!
Pickpocketing is good but one thing that is interesting is the different people that do it and how they do it by the distractive patter used.

If you want a bit of stereotype of a pickpocket, rent Oliver Twist.

I always attributed pickpockets to having those gloves with the finger parts cut off so they couls still use their fingers properly.

From what I understand, umbrellas are ofen carried during the rainy season.
This might be useful as a prop.

An clean cut, office look may be better than a common street look.
Or you could go with a street look.
Depends on if the character you think you can portray.
