This ring and ribbon trick really fooled me on the first couple of viewings. I think I figured it out. I'll give some spoiler space if you want to try to figure it out yourself and compare answers.

I think it is related to the silk through microphone stand trick. Let me know if you agree.

That is "Bewildering" by Doug Bennett: used by Doug Henning on the Tonight Show. It was sold by Tannen's as part of their "New Stars on Magic" Series. It still can be found on the vintage magic sites, for example: https://www.magiccollectibles.com/produc......ht-show/

This has been discussed a number of times on the Café'. It is angle dependent, has to be done sitting since the method of operation is controlled by the legs/lap below the table. The mechanical method for the Handkerchief through microphone stand is not used here. However the methodology is very similar. Think Pendulum.

I understand from another post theater is at least one magician here on the Café' that adapted the handling and methodology for a stand up presentation.

I bought this right after Doug Henning performed it on the Carson show. I performed it for real people maybe three times (twice in my home for friends and once at a magic club). Unfortunately even in the 70s I couldn't find venues that afforded me the opportunity to perform a sit-down closeup show. I never adapted it to a stand up performance.

This would be a perfect little illusion/trick/effect for todays YouTube magic.

With a little search you can find the entire set of instructions on line.
The artist formally known as Mumblepeas!

This is an easily made item from

https://www.amazon.com/Ivilon-Drapery-Ey......y&sr=8-8 for the ring just remove the other smaller ring with pliers.

And

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JFD1LWV/ref......F8&psc=1 for the cord.

You will also need two other things but I'm not at liberty, to say what they are.
No matter how many times you say the wrong thing, it will NEVER be right.

If I'm not responding to you? It's because you're a TROLL!
