Good evening all,
I am looking for some (preferably black) thread which is non-elastic. It doesn't need to be too thin, as the effect will be performed in a fairly dimly lit and controlled environment. I have been trying standard sewing thread which at first seems "solid", but the moment I put some weight (averaging 1Kg) on it it droops, which is what I'm trying to get away from. Have you guys and girls got any suggestions of what to try instead? Any assistance you can offer is greatly appreciated. Sincere regards, Ryan Carmichael

Looks like what you are looking for is Wooly Nylon Thread. Found this reference from another café member. It comes in black as well. There is an unanswered question as to, what is the best color thread to use, so don't let that bother you.

What you need is Vectra X2 Stage thread
https://www.emagicsupply.com/index.php?m......c7sadf42 It is black and will handle your weight requirement. It is probably the only "IT" out there that will.

A kilogram is much too heavy for Wooly Nylon thread as suggested by another member.
I believe Poof Daddy is correct.

That is the nice thing about Wooly Nylon, if you want more strength then just strip 2 strands as one, as they don't separate easily.

There is usually always more then one way to accomplish the same task. The wooly thread is make of a large number of strands, never counted them, but it looks like more then 10 or 15. Have a great day. |

You can try thread made for making fly fishing lures. It's strong, non-elastic, cheap, and comes on a spool.
Not the thinness IT out there, but you said that didn't matter. Here's a link to some... http://www.jsflyfishing.com/uni-caenis-thread or do a search for "uni-caenis 20 den" Randi |

What I said was that Wooly Nylon thread is not suitable for an object that weighs 1 kilogram. That's over 2 pounds. It doesn't matter if it's 2 strands or 15 strands. If someone had a personal experience, as you suggest , with over 2 pounds on wooly nylon thread, I find that incredible. Was this your personal experience? From reading your previous posts regarding IT work, it sounded like you had a hard time with it. Do you actually use IT? Have a magical day.

I used IT before you were born into magic.
Lots of experience, indeed. |

Myself, I'd use fishing line. Smoke color, sanded dull and zebra-striped with a black marker. That's just one...
