I'm going to a big auction next week with many magic items up for auction.
One of the items is Dick Zimmerman's Dancing Ring.
I watched a performance on Youtube but I wanted to inquire about the skill level.
I realize it is for stage but is it very difficult to learn. On a scale of 1 to 10
Thank you,
Stan

Yes, it is not an easy routine to learn, and with only printed instructions, is more so. Some things are left out, or not explained very well. Attending magic conventions, I have only seen one person perform this effect.

It is still on sale at Viking Magic, as well as the CD version.

I would rate the difficulty level an 8.

I concur with Bill. Well, it might be 7.5!

I remember Jeff Wawrzaszek learned it when he was a young man in his early 20s. He did it at an Abbott Get Together, perhaps 30 years ago. It is a delightfully VISUAL routine. However, as you've noted, it's not for close up or parlor!

Thank you for the advice.
It looked like a wonderful presentation.
I'm trying to get a feel for what's worthwhile before I go to the auction. I understand there are bargains there.
I'll probably pass on on this. If I was younger I might have considered it.
Life is too short and there are many other things out there.
Thanks again,
Stan

Yeah! At 84, I'm nor looking for new "challenges", either!

I made a living for 50 years, on the road, from coast to coast, and, border to border, with a show that I could do almost anywhere, for almost anybody. I used basic tricks, many of which, I learned from TARBELL! If you're looking for advice, I would suggest that you Keep It Simple, and, Make It Fun! Read, Tarbell, and, the Gibson/Wilson CCIM! (FESTINA LENTE! -- Latin: Make haste, slowly!)

LANDMARK (Jack Shalom) reviewed my book in his "blog" page last fall. (Link: http://jackshalom.net/2015/ll/page/2/)

I used to do this trick back when aI was about 16 or so. I learned it from the printed instructions, so it can be done. I think the skill level would be considered intermediate.
