It appears to be a "modern" version of the "Red Snapper". In "my day", they sold for fifty cents! I have no idea what they might cost today. Red Snapper was made of wood ("BP" --Before Plastic!)and painted RED.

Never seen anything like that. What makes you think it is a snapper. The rod is to long, and there is not cone shape on it. Why not clean it up with white vinegar and see if it can be restored. Whatever it is. If it broke, it is worth nothing much. Some collectors like to keep broken props.
Dick, the Snapper sold for 25 cents in my day.

I KNOW it is a snapper.
The rod fits perfectly; that is probably the camera angle.
you are correct, there is no "cone."
I am not really interested in discussion/guessing.
I am interested in the NAME of this special snapper, and perhaps a resell value.
thx
And I will see a PM much faster!

I believe it is the Murgatroyd Mystifier, guaranteed to puzzle, perturb and perplex. Valued between $20 - $25 (estimate).

Kind of looks like a fire piston to me.
