I'm looking for a place to buy faux "old" paper to make some ephemera, i.e. letters, envelopes, labels, and such. Do any of you have a good source for this?

Thanks!

Not sure if this helps George, but Steam Roller Copies sells "parchment" in 8 1/2x 11 sheets. I have aged it with tea baths.

Is what you are looking for more like aged news print, or like in a really old book?

Perhaps cooking parchment paper rolls in a coffee/tea bath?

For Gypsy Curse I purchased old US document replicas. I cut the Gettysburg Address to size and pass it off as a confessional letter from my ancestor.

I would like to recommend again a teacher supply store. The on in our area has huge supply of all kinds of paper, in all sizes.

I Google Teacher Supply in San Fancisco, CA and came up with a list of stores you could visit if you care to check them out.

It is like an adult magician toy store, be prepared to spend some time browsing. I have a hard time leaving one through the doors.

Any craft store or art supply store that sells calligraphy supplies should carry an appropriate "parchment" calligraphy paper. If you want it to small old you can get a gras scented spray from various sources online. Add some vanilla extract to it and lightly mist your paper and allow it to dry. It has been found tha the major olfactory components that one smells in old book shops and libraries is a combination of grass esters and vanilla.

If you want authenticity, occasionally you can find unused antique stationery on ebay such as this:

And if you don't want to make it yourself, there is something like this:

Hi George
I've used Tea leafs in the past to stain paper successfully.
I've even used it to age rope for my sub-trunk.
Mind you, I am English so get through an awful amount of tea!
