Cups and Balls would fit in nicely with the Medicine Man idea.. Check out Ammar's video on cups and balls..
The videos go into a lot of detail regarding how they were used by hucksters in the past to create a crowd so they could then sell their wares..anything from hair pomade, tooth powder, snake oil, patent medicine, fortune telling etc. and of course gambling.. They sometimes would employ an "assistant" who, once the crowd gathered and started watching, circulated among them and helped add to the revenue stream by lightening their pockets. A set of traditional style cups like the Johnny Paul style would work nicely or you could use period style tin cups but the handles would interfere with some moves. For loads.. 54 or 58 caliber round balls, marbles, buttons. Harmonicas were very popular with soldiers so you could use some tiny harmonicas with a full size one for your final load ..other final loads.. since the soldiers were always hungry, a potato, onion, apple or other common fruit, a small bottle of "free" snake oil, a CW period type "bawdy token" (adults only audiences lol), a 69 caliber round ball. |

Ubernutz, this is an old thread, but yes there are some medicine man teams still working. I saw a husband and wife act at Calico Ghost Town in Southern California last year. I recall that he was part of Pico Pistolero's group. Check out Facebook for interest on Pico. Of course, there is also Chef Anton, who while he isn't the typical Medicine Man character, certainly is the con man.
