Can anyone recommend a good drill for a the growing head illusion?

The small ones don't have adjustable chucks and the big ones are VERY heavy.

Anyone found a good, lightweight drill?

I've picked up one these babies but I'm not sure it will work.

I use mine without a drill.I put a metal "sleeve" over the bolt and then put a "lock" nut on the end. Hold the "sleeve" with your thumb and index finger and spin the disk by turning the "lock" nut. Practice in front of your mirror to check your spinning speed. I now have one less thing to pack.
This great idea came from Jason Hudy!

Nicholas, I believe your hand crank drill will work just fine. Remember to keep a nice steady speed.

I use a black and decker power screw driver. You don't need an adjustable chuck, just stick the bolt on the spiral into the round end of the screwdriver. It just slides in and out - but if you turn on the screwdriver the wheel goes around.

No you don't need a bigger bolt. The bolt fits loose in the screwdriver but like the instructions say "Trust me it will work". The disk slips a little when you first turn on the screwdriver but inertia brings it up to speed quickly.

It doesn't work with the screwdriver that I have. The screwdriver turns and the disk just wobbles and then falls off!

Perhaps we're using different versions...

It arrived today and it's perfect. I highly recommend it to everyone.

PROS
Lighter than lightweight
Small
Silent
The handle is more fun than a noisy drill
I can control the speed easier than a drill

CONS
It requires two hands to use rather than one.

Glue (two step epoxy or superglue, it has to be strong) your bolt to whatever it needs to be attached to in the drill. My bolt is glued to the spiral, I just slot the whole assembly into the cordless screwdriver (it's a hexagonal thing like an allen key) and then pull it back out when the effect is over.
