I don’t know if this is the best place for this but does anyone have any advice, method or video on turning a ball into an appearing cane? I do a ball and silk routine and ditch the silk and steal the cane so I end up with 1 ball and the cane.

With out sounding obvious, but how about tossing the ball in a topit then release the cane in one motion.

You can squeeze the ball into the cane, which can be done pretty slowly (not an instant appearance).
Sleeving the ball is optional. |

This idea is precisely the kind of thing that would have me standing in front of a mirror for hours, jamming with the props. There are only two props involved. Play with them and you are bound to come up with something cool.

I did try this,,as a finish to my billiard ball routine, but found it to awkward visually - just doesn't 'look' right.
Maybe you will have better luck than me. Have fun, and let us know how you get on. If I could remember the name of the move I used, I would tell you, but it escapes me for the moment. When it comes back to me, I will let you know - but I can say it is one normally used for a billiard ball vanish. Dave

I would go one further which will probably aid in the effect. Using a silk or silks in the mix. Cover the ball with the silk which has the cane ready to go, ditch the ball as you appear the cane.
I do something like this in my act when I go to candle to silk to cane.

Magicians - that is how I ended up solving the problem. I changed the BB to a silk and then produced the cane from the silk (canes being a running gag throughout the act).
Much more visually pleasing (although not high on the originality stakes!) Be blowed if I can remember the 'throw vanish' move I used for the production. Dave
