Hey guys,
Check it out. A friend of mine and I just finished building a Wakeling Sawing. I am pretty happy with it. I am picking up blades tomorrow and the straps should be in soon. Here are the pictures.

Thank you! I was hesitant to post it on here. People tend to throw stone for builders. I am very happy with it and can't wait to perform it.

The regulars here (the real builders) don't. Most of us recognize honest work when we see it.

Did you work from specific plans, or did you draw up your own?

I would like to suggest you put another hinge on those side doors, as they will get a workout, and being you went with small brass hinges, they may not hold up to a lot of use. Just a suggestion.

Nice finish job, looks like a piece of fine furniture.

Another note, your assistant is to short for this trick, might want to get a little taller assistant for this trick. LOL

Thanks, I made it from Osborne's plans, sort of. The legs were completely redesigned. Everything breaks down for travel and we used hinges and pins for the joints. Thanks for the suggestion on the hinges. I was considering using another one.

That is incredible looking. Art, furniture, and magic all combined into one. Awesome!
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

If anyone is interested in having one built, send me a PM. Bryan (my friend who built it with me) said he wouldn't mind building another one. He can build it A LOT cheaper than any other one you will find on the market.

Where did you find the restraints? I'm looking to build one soon and can't seem to locate a source for them.

A Café member here, Richard Hughes from Hughes Magic is having them made for me. He lives in Amish country and has a guy that does the leather work. I just gave him the sizes and he is set. I have seen pictures and they look fantastic. The only issue is it make take a bit to have them made. Richard just can't pick up the phone and call him. One funny thing is, the guy wanted to know if he could be held liable for the girl being cut in half. I am guessing the Amish and illusions really don't mix but it did make me laugh.

I just finished installing my straps that I got from Richard. I modified them with rings that will act as stoppers and built the gaff. I ordered swords online. My swords are a little non-traditional but I think they look good. I will finish the blades tomorrow and I am set!

Awsome job,

What material are you using to construct your blades?

Thanks Ryan,
I think they are made out of steel! I went to local metal shop and picked out the material and had them cut to size. They are heavier than I would like but they look great when they slam through the box!
