I just opened 9 pages of illegal nonsense from Getty Images in Seattle. If you ever get a 9 page form-letter from Getty Images, demanding money because you are using one of their "licensed" images, then you need to read the site below and don't pay them.

Yes, I got a similar letter a few months ago; two, in fact. If you have any doubt about where the image in question might have come from, I would recommend you remove it from your website, just to be on the safe side.
And I agree, don't feel intimidated into sending them one cent. Joe Libby

I'm crafting a legally binding letter explaining that, since they have a policy, so do I. Mine requires a certain amount paid for any letters or cominicatoons, in the future, that come from them.
My terms will be legal since they have advance notice and theirs are not since they are arbitrary and subjective and theirs are policy as opposed to law. I will be very happy to send anyone a copy to use for them or any other solicitor. Give me a few days to get it made.

I'm bringing this topic back because now I'm receiving extortion letters from Getty's attorneys. There has been no evidence presented that any infringement has occurred; these are just demands for money.
I'm tired of this nonsense. I have sent a response to the attorney's office basically saying I cannot respond without seeing the evidence. But I have also filed complaints against Getty and the attorney with the Washington AG's office and the Texas AG's office (since I live in Texas, why not?), and against the attorney with the Washington State Bar Association. Like I said before, if you get something like this, don't be intimidated and don't send them a cent just because they say so. There is plenty of information out there about this racket. Why do you need to use Getty's pics? I would think you'd rather use your own anyways?

Mindpro, the image was in a website template I was using at one time. I wasn't aware that it might be in Getty's library until they started sending their intimidating letters.
I took that website template down. But I'm also not going to roll over just because Getty claims I'm guilty. Anyone interested in finding out more could start here: http://virtualclinics.net/stop_getty_images.htm Joe Libby San Antonio, TX
