They would have to specially machine these for magicians, though. Having the "gimmick" in black is sort of like having the inside of your change bag be two different colors!
I could see quite a few uses, though, for this key!

Linking Hearts by Paul Romhany solves this problem in another unique way that can be adapted to many other sets of rings.
The key ring can be shown completely "space free" during the routine.
