I seem to remember that early on, Joshua Jay had some very nice ring and string magic several years ago. I still remember being "wowed" seeing him do it. Hope I'm not mistaken about that. It was the first time I saw a ring thrown/tossed and link to the rope.

If anyone is truly interested n performing routines with the Ellis Ring, then it is mandatory you get a copy of this out of print booklet by Millidge. It is fantastic.

I don't know if the information is the same as what Bill Hegbli mentions, but there is also another routine by Millidge in 'Unconventional Magic' by Lewis Ganson that is very clever.
