Bought a black mouse pad at Radio Shack, same material and backing as a usual close up mat for $5.99...Im sure others have done the same thing but in case not I thought Id share Smile

Its by Allsop and its 8.6 inches x 8.0 inches..perfect small mat...

I've used a mousepad in the past and was not happy with it. It fell apart... whereas my closeup pad will not die. Don't know what the difference is, but a $6 investment is not that much.

I'm actually happy with my closeup pad. It's just the right size and hasn't frayed at all. Maybe if I become in need. Smile

Try this went to the Christmas Tree Store in Amherst,NY they has a dish drying mat 20"x18" A thin layer of foam between ywo layers of microfiber in red green and some other colors. Price on sale for $2.99 Also had a larger size for 3.99
Works good as a close-up pat

Yes, the material I've seen is pebble like and a little on the hardside. Have you found something different?
