Of course each counting effect can be transformed into counting in base 3 - but are there any specific effects out there that exploit the properties of the ternary system itself?

Thanks in advance,

See Martin Gardner's Mathematics, Magic and Mystery, chapter 3, p.39 for variations on the classic 27 card trick. The explanation discusses the ternary system.

Hope this helps, PM me if yow want more specifics.

Alex Elmsley's "Animal Vegetable Mineral" exploits a ternary counting system. But if the table memorization and the fishing turn you off, my "Mahjong Mystery" eliminates both of those elements (on TSD.)

cheers, Doug
