Perhaps this should be in the "the words we use" forum...

You can get away with anything if you have the right Spin Doctor on the job!

Political Correctness

It just all depends on how you look at some things...

Judy Wallman, a professional genealogy researcher in southern California , was doing some personal work on her own family tree. She discovered that Congressman Harry Reid's great-great uncle, Remus Reid, was hanged for horse stealing and train robbery in Montana in 1889. Both Judy and Harry Reid share this common ancestor.

The only known photograph of Remus shows him standing on the gallows ?in Montana territory:

On the back of the picture Judy obtained during her research is this inscription: 'Remus Reid, horse thief, sent to Montana Territorial Prison 1885, escaped 1887, robbed the Montana Flyer six times. Caught by Pinkerton detectives, convicted and hanged in 1889.'

So Judy recently e-mailed Congressman Harry Reid for information about their great-great uncle.
Harry Reid:

Believe it or not, Harry Reid's staff sent back the following biographical sketch for her genealogy research:

"Remus Reid was a famous cowboy in the Montana Territory . His business empire grew to include acquisition of valuable equestrian assets and intimate dealings with the Montana railroad. Beginning in 1883, he devoted several years of his life to government service, finally taking leave to resume his dealings with the railroad. In 1887, he was a key player in a vital investigation run by the renowned Pinkerton Detective Agency. In 1889, Remus passed away during an important civic function held in his honour when the platform upon which he was standing collapsed."

NOW THIS is the ultimate Bull S?T Folks!?
This is real POLITICAL SPIN of the TRUTH??

Do you think Harry Ried's staff was serious? This has either got to be a joke or the government is more dishonest than I thought. And my opinion of government official's ethics is not very high in the first place.

That's brilliant!

I almost didn't want to head over to Snopes and find out if it's true.

Don't you hate when that happens?

I'm scared for the future of democracy.

I think so long as something is spun to fit people's preconceptions or pander to their subconscious fears, they will believe anything no matter how outlandish.

Anyone want to talk about birth certificates?

Dang. I wish I could write that well.
Will you walk into my parlour? said the Spider to the Fly,
Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;
The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,
And I've a many curious things to show when you are there.

Oh no, no, said the little Fly, to ask me is in vain,
For who goes up your winding stair
-can ne'er come down again.

I like it! It is true in my family history my cousin found guys who 'rode with the calvary in the civil war' and when I looked them up in the history archieves they were described as guerillas and criminals.
