My wonderful wife Annie, gave me a beginner Uke...(and even in yellow..which matches our house and many of my props)
Besides songs...can anyone suggest bits of bizness with this fun prop. Things I have thought of... 1. when it grows up it will be a bass 2. my guitar has been on a diet 3. I washed my guitar and can't do a thing with it 4. use the uke as the body of a puppet.. 5. (for magician's)doing a fake floating bit... just think if norm nielsen played the ukulele any other suggestions..?? thanks in advance... Harris

All I can think of it Tiny Tim. If you haven't seen him in a while, look him up on YouTube... The one with he and Dean Martin is a personal favorite!

His face isn't really this long in-person!

I would do a zombie routine with it.
No one said it would be easy, or did they?

The fact that this is in a thread about funny says a lot but have you noticed how much its being used in the BG music in commercials lately?? When I was on Maui some years back I was riding the pineapple train and the conductor was a large local man who played the uke and sang to the passengers. Sheer magic I must say in his hands and the unique tuning gives some good sounds especially when used with other stringed instruments.
BTW, I did a show with Tiny Tim at Gilley's Club in Pasadena. It was after his popularity had faded and he was trying to go country I guess. It was freaky. We wanted to run and hide. I felt extremely uncomfortable for him. -=tabman

"Tiny Tim" reportedly was a talented musician. This was told to me my musician's I respect.
I have a had a lot of fun this year, playing the Uke "straight" and as a comedy bit. People still mention "Tim", many times when I bring it out. Latest addition to the think table is a long black wig. Don't know if I will put it on or use it in a vent routine along with a puppet mask. "Yellow" has also brought a lot of smiles to the Alzheimer Unit I have been visiting this summer. One comment by a resident, "Is he serious?" The laughter during Friday's "Focus Groups", is magic to my ears. Favorite songs... 5'2" Hey Good Looking Songs working on include: Sentimental Journey... Seven...that's where I go for a burito 7 -11 and Jimmy Hendrix's Star Spangled Banner...(inspired by a youtube video of a ukester doing Purple Haze...

Been working on Jimmy Hendrix Star Spangled banner...but with my newness on the uke, I may settle for a while for a Hendrixish version of Happy Birthday to you!

Carry it in a guitar case. When you pull it out you get a laugh and you don't even have to say anything.
Yeah, it adds a bit more bulk to carry around than a uke case, but you're an artist, you're supposed to suffer. Jay Jennings
