I get a great reaction from my Dove from Tissue. It's so deceptive because there are really no moves because it's self contained. Also, since the tissue box looks totally normal people don't have an idea that the dove was concealed in it.
A fun routine that I still use from time to time.

YAY Tony Clark is here and posting now!

I second Tony's mention of his dove from tissues. No body loads, fits anywhere and is appropriate for any show. I use it for kids shows and even some stand up shows where I'm not doing a whole dove act, but still want a dove production.

I leave the tissue box in view for a long time before I actually use it. Tony's videos are great too, and he has a whole video of non body loaded effects that can be done in short sleeves. I use his table steal, tissue box and others a lot.

Johnny Thompson's hat steal is excellent too, its on one of the Thompsoni tapes.

You can also steal a load from a black art table, imagine ribbons and a dove hidden in a red harness you've sewed some ribbons onto. Throw the ribbons out, gather them up on the table top and steal the load. I added a foot stand to one of
the legs just so there is no motion... Works GREAT!

Once, during a show where I forgot my dove vest somehow, I even stole doves right from my pants pockets (Hey it was an emergency!) I practiced how the steals would look in the bathroom at the show before going on. I pinned down the inside of the pockets to the pants. I carry an extra vest now just in case. This worked, but I don't think I want to do that again.

Doves are not so hard to hide, think creatively about stealing that sized load from things with misdirection, and yes you can do a whole act without body loads or short sleeves.

Mirror box production, drawer box production, Tony's crystal Casket dove production, Dan Sperry's dove bag is good, fire dove bag,Small tip over box,Square Square production, Square circle, Torch through arm w/dove production, Fire cage production, balloon to dove tray... You can use a change bag,There are MANY but you have to look around and try them to see what you like. I buy everyone I can find myself, but I'm a little nuts. Smile

That dove from tissue effect is a good idea, but like many good ideas it's apparently been re-invented. I read it in one of David Ginn's books from the 1970's. (I believe it's in David's book "Strictly Visuals" )

I think you can wear an invisible dove vest under a shirt with short sleeves. So if the shirt is open you can do some dove steals.
