Gotta be '8 Mile'. It's like 'Eye of the Tiger' for the n00rties.

If readings or Q&A involved - reread (scan) Ian's Cold reading tome.
Check ALL batteries in all props where needed. Make sure adequate (double) suppliesare on hand for each routine - bags for death trap etc. Check for flat or low tires at least a couple of hours before leaving. Lock Home

For me. I'm never nervous before a show. My nerves are shot the day before... paranoia about getting to the gig on time forgetting to bring a prop, etc.
Just before the gig, all I care about is my fly, my breath, my hair (what's left of it) and boogers. Other than that, I may spend a few minutes mentally walking through my act, and of course I make sure that my pockets are loaded with what they need. |

I smoke. And after the show I feel guilty about it.

If you're a bit more hardcore, Mudvayne is good or Teenagers from My Chemical Romance. If there is a drive involved, I'll flip through all of the above but I also like listening to Les Mis on CD. Very, very, very few performers know anything about controlling their voice on stage. Even before I was a member of Toastmasters, I paid attention to how I spoke and how others did. Les Mis is a classical education on how to add depth and timbre to your voice, something EVERY SINGLE PERFORMER I HAVE EVER SEEN can improve on. Just me though. |

I am a great believer in making lists so I don't forget anything and keep all routines, presentations, props needed and running orders etc on file.
Another thing that I think I read some time ago that really works, to put yourself in the correct frame of mind even more so if you are doing hypnosis as well is before you go on stage or cabaret, rub the palms of your hands together to create heat and like in the Mandrake the Magician comics take your palms a few inches apart and feel the energy flow between them. It works for me. Franklin |

I use the "mind mapping" technique. So I go over my mind map. Then I relax and listen to something like Minor Threat or Bad Brains. Hardcore punk makes me feel centered.

I keep checking my pockets to make sure I didn't forgot something, even if I done it once and I'm convinced I have everything I do it over and over again for no logical reason...
Other than that I do a small dance to remove the nervousness... Max.

I get dressed in whatever I'm wearing to the show.
I brush my teeth and mouthwash and everything. I double check all my props and make sure I have everything plus some. About 30 min before I leave I'll put on my iPod and listen to Coldplay. 10 min before I leave I go through the house to make sure I haven't forgotten anything like my hat or my necklace or any props. When I get there I set everything up and make sure I'm ready. About 5 min before show I'll rub a very small bit of ground cloves on my tongue (I used to buy clove gum, but I can't find it anymore.) Then, showtime!
