There are many forces on the planet stronger than gravity. In fact, "magnets" [sic] aren't actually a force at all. Magnetism... now THAT'S a force.

Just to be a hairsplitter:

There are four fundamental forces - Strong atomic force, Electro-Magnetic, Weak Atomic force and Gravitational force, in that order of 'strength'.

The strength that make most sense to compare here is really what us physics geeks call the 'coupling constant' measured in Joule meters (energy x distance).
Coupling constants:
Strong = 1
Eletromagnetic = 1/137
Weak = 0.000001
Gravitational = 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000001

Note that a really tiny bit of magnet can overcome the gravitational strength of the entire planet! Gravitation is really, really weak!

You won't ever be playing with the strong or weak forces unless you work at a nuclear reactor, particle accelerator, have some hydrogen bombs or have discovered a really good new magic effect.

Electric and magnetic forces are two sides of the same coin. One does not exist without the other in a fundamental way.

Cheers, that's enough hairs split today...or was that atoms?
