Is this real or is the guy pulling out extra pieces you can't see inside the water?

Yes it is possible, but you will not get smooth edges and of course there is always a risk to cutting yourself rather badly.

I would think the glass would have to be very thin and also have a very good pair of scissors. If I had glass pieces laying around the house, I would try it.

Funny video.

Add a sheet of plastic waiting under the water and go for it.

Jonathan has a point there he did not tap the glass after it was cut.

Yeah, it is real. I read this in an old magic science book when I was a wee one. Of course I had to try it! It does indeed work. Not exactly a neat pretty cut, but it works. It had an effect on me similar to chewing tin foil.
Leaping Lizards!!! Who knew it was possible.

Turn us into a human lightning rod AL, lol. Has anyone actually tried to do the cutting glass trick yet? I`m going to find the time this week to try it in my shop.

Today I tried that trick using tin snips and a standard thickness glass. Started with a bucket of cold water, it worked well the pieces cut off broke into smaller pieces. I used the lighter like they did, and it seem to cut a little easier. I also did it out of the water; the glass cut a little more jagged and spilled a lot on the large piece. The second time out of the water the main piece broke into several crooked pieces. It was a interesting experiment.

Have any of you tried to do this trick?

LOL, that's funny! Or don't chew cooper while on the top of the Eiffel Tower.. since electricity likes to travel the easiest path between the earth and the tallest object.
