I think there's something wrong with this performance.

Hey btw, I'm currently finishing my modern art prop and I need to know how to build the phantom wall so that there's no opening on the left side of the table. How to finish the edge of sheet metal so it connects the table?

Best regards, Aaro

You must lay it out in a CAD program or via traditional drafting and then cut the sheet metal to the specific shape, which is NOT a rectangle.

I built the table, then laid out the underneath part using posterboard. Once I had it the right size and shape, I transferred the pattern to the metal, cut it out, attached it, and filed/sanded it to final size. It was time consuming, but the result was worth it.

Here, I did the work for you - all linear dimensions and radii are in inches:

Also, take note as to the problem with the assistant wearing a contrasting costume.

FWIW

In an odd way.. I like the fact that he let the door open at the end.... although he didn't open it during the routine.. it was nice to see her leave at the end..

It appeared to me that SHE nudged the door open as she was beginning her exit; that got me contemplating the idea of a "movable" gimmick that could quickly pivot out of the way (or perhaps slide straight up into the upper box)? That would allow the original presentation of opening both doors with the added convincer of the bottom door "accidentally" swinging open at the end to allow a view of her exit.

I'm a fan of Steinmeyer, and usually feel he refines his designs pretty thoroughly, but this might be a nice upgrade.

Easiest way for the phantom wall is to staple black canvas on the frame for wall then cover with fiber glass mixture available at Lowe's or auto parts store. Then you can cover with black felt if you want.

Thank you,

I like the fiber glass idea to make the phantom wall. Just for the record, I'm not performing on that video. My video is here: http://www.aarosorva.com/sahaus.mpg

There's a picture attached. If I'm understanding correctly, the end of the sheet metal should be straight? I cutted and curved it little, because otherwise it looks like there's something protruding out underneath the table. I covered this opening with black felt.
