Fortasse has published his first e-book. It contains the cups and balls sections from Ozanam and Guyot. This clears up a lot of mysteries. It's an excellent work

Never criticize someone else until you have walked a mile in their shoes. Then, when you do criticize them, you will be a mile away from them and you will have their shoes.

By permission of Fortasse, this book has been sent to Conjuring Arts. They will have it available to search on line.
Oleg: Actually, all of the spellings of the words that you mention above are correct. They just have different meanings when spelled differently, and in the context they were used in Erdnase, it makes them the wrong word. For example -- "Charlies" can mean "the plural of Charlie." Sleight means a kind of move or manipulation. Slight means small or it can mean to make someone feel small. But in the case of Erdnase, it was the wrong spelling for the meaning. That's the fun of English. We spell everything phonetically -- but only in the language we borrowed the word from. This is why when we spell Russian words, the relationship to the Russian language depends entirely upon what language we borrowed the spelling from. We are as likely to spell the name of the famous Russian composer Tschaikowsky (German), Tchaikovski (French), or Chaikovskii (Library of Congress tranliteration).
