Has anyone else run across this site?
http://www.lpbk.net/misc/fitzkee/index.html I assume this means the books are now public domain... right?

It doesn't have to suggest that the book is in the public domain. It might suggest that the current holder of the rights has made the book available to the public on the internet for reasons unknown, but still retaining all rights.
It's been available for a while now on this site. |

If it was there, its gone now - let's hope it doesn't re-appear!

It could also have been a bootleg copy. There are several people who think that because books have been digitized, they should be available to all at no cost, as long as they have a computer. While this is perfectly fine with public domain material, it isn't fine with material that is still under copyright protection.
Lee Jacobs had the rights to the books at the time that he died. His widow probably owns them now. Maybe she had the book removed from the web site in question.
