Check out the Calendar of Events on my web site. I just posted quite a few conventions and gatherings just for Jugglers that will be taking place next year. If you know of any that I missed, please let me know along with a web-site reference so I can link to the information for people. Thanks!

And thank YOU Al, for pointing out five or six Juggle fests I had failed to include. They have been added to the Calendar now, to help make it more complete.

Just a thought, but the BJC this year is also playing host to the WJF and also the very first British Balloon Modelling Convention.

I know the BJC has been included in the calander already, but thought the other events deserved a quick mention too.

The notice for April reads: 04/11 - 04/15 20th Annual British Juggling Convention, Nottingham, UK - Includes all circus arts this year! The link is to:
http://www.bjc2007.co.uk/

What am I missing? I thought I had it all covered.

You're missing the fact that the WJF is holding a seperate event (costs extra) at the same location and same time and also there is a seperate Balloon Modelling Convention (again additional cost and at same place and during BJC). These events are not the same as the BJC so Roslyn didn't think they should just be lumped in there.

Personally I wonder why you have a list of these events on your website when any juggler with the ability to type 'juggling' into Google can find http://www.jugglingdb.com which has a very good and inclusive events section. It isn't as if you publicise your website in a way that will get most jugglers looking at it. It also doesn't make sense for jugglers to go to your site to publicise their events when posting on jugglingdb will get them much wider notice, especially if they then use the site to access rec.juggling and contact the extremely large network of jugglers who read that regularly.

Suspects Spellbinder is just trying to get people to view his website for his own benefit by adding semi-useful information

And I suspect Spellbinder is just trying to display worldwide events from all the Performing Arts of interest to those interested especially in the Circus Arts and Magic, and display them in a way that gives them enough advance notice to make real plans to actually attend them.

I appreciate the fact that the European Juggling Association hosts the International Juggling Database, because that means I can go there and try to sort out their information which is arranged by geography into information sorted by chronology. I would never think of tempting jugglers to learn about other events occuring in the world beyond juggling events, nor to lure clowns into attending magic conventions, nor magicians into seeing what jugglers are up to.

But, as it happens, I know several magicians who are also jugglers, clowns and ventriloquists, and I even know some jugglers who are magicians, mentalists, and bizartists and who occasionally enjoy making balloon animals. My calendar is for them.

Thank you, Nigel, for sorting out the confusion over what is happening in Nottingham in April. I hope my semi-useful information is displayed in a way that helps clarify the two separate but concurring events. Actually, if you pre-register in advance, you can attend both events for the same price. It seems to be only those who wait until the last minute or who pay at the door who have to make a choice of one or the other. But click on the links and check out the details for yourselves. That's the whole purpose of publishing a calendar like mine, to help you plan your itinerary well in advance.

Hi,
The BJC is a seperate convention to the WJF and the BBMC.
They all happen to be going on at the same time and in the same place. But they are 3 completely different conventions.
Actually, two are conventions and the WJF is a competition.
Just thought it would be nice to mention the other 2 events.

Sorry, should've read on before posting. Thanks for explaining for me Nigel Smile

Anyway, I think it'd be nice if you gave a mention to the other two events on your page. Just so if people are looking for the WJF event they'll find it.

Cheers,

Ros
