Before there were instructional magic videos and DVDs, did magicians make instructional films for other magicians in the early part of the 20th century?
I had read that Ross Bertram made some instructional films, but did other magicians do this as well back in the day?

Yes they did. Most were underground though.

Sure
Marlo had a series of 8mm films that were distributed between his students.

Are any of those films available for DVD release now or in the future?
Anyone else know of any other instructional magic films from before the video age?

Some of Marlo's films were compiled and released on video years ago, you would have to search them out if you want more information.
There are many, many other artists who put out films. Might I suggest that if you are a member of the SAM, that you contact the film and video archive. If you're not a member, joining might be a good place to start.
