As we all know, the tried and true cross-cut force is very effective with the proper presentation. My question to all is... do you think it is stronger to force the top card of the lower packet, or the bottom card of the upper packet? Something tells me that one of the methods must register as more natural and consistent in the mind of a spectator, but which one? I've seen both methods used brilliantly (Michael Close with one method and Michael Ammar using the other), so maybe I'm just splitting hairs. But the psychology of it is what I am interested in. Perhaps there is no inherently "superior" method, but it would be interesting to see if you guys have had better success one way or the other. Thank you!

If this can work with the effect then give them the choice. Either the bottom of the top(?) half or the top of the bottom(?) half.
Otherwise I don't believe it matters much.

Top card of the bottom half.
Will you walk into my parlour? said the Spider to the Fly,
Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;
The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,
And I've a many curious things to show when you are there.
Oh no, no, said the little Fly, to ask me is in vain,
For who goes up your winding stair
-can ne'er come down again.

Yep! Top card of the bottom half which is the top card to begin with.
This is such a great, and easy, force. Just make sure to pause before having them look at it. Talking, while doing nothing, is great misdirection for this.

I agree the top card of the bottom pack. The line that I use that drives it home is " Now lift the top pack off and Look at the card you cut to".
this usually helps when they back track. they think "I cut the cards, looked at the one I cut to and......"

When you use the top card of the bottom pack the appearance of the force is very clean looking.
