Ok guys. There's Dough! by Jay Sankey. There's one by Dan Harlan on Vol. 2 of his ultimate impromptu magic and I think he said somewhere he improved it and published the new one somewhere.
Anyway, I'm sure there are more. The point is that I'm looking for the best one. Are there others? What is your favorite? Do you have any info on the Harlan one? Which one do you think is the best for walk around or restaurants? Thanks guys! -ZAM! |

If you're doing a formal performance (walk-around, restaurant, etc.), why are you concentrating on versions that use borrowed props? Just wondering.

I suppose I should have said "ungimmicked" instead of borrowed. Anyway, I do like pen thru back note, but I would like to be able to do it totally impromptu, I'd like something with better angles, and I simply think it may be more impressive.
Anyway, I was just wondering what everyone's favorite was, if they don't use a gimmicked one. -ZAM! |

The best goes to Alan Rorrison's BPBN.
now it is sold to expertmagic, and is available as a bonus effect in the Ultimate pen thru dollar product. |

Guys I am very sorry but I can not show un gimmicked pen thru bill.
This effect is not mine,,,, I am one of the lucky few that learened this effect. It is not on the market yet and I would be infringing on the creators rights.... AGAIN THE GODFATHER APOLOGIES. vinny |

I cast my vote for Dan Harlan's "Now UZ It." I was glad to see the re-release of Early Harlan on DVD (where you'll find it performed and explained). Another, earlier example of this effect is Yoshio Hirose's "The Invisible Hole," from Harry Lorayne's Apocalypse (March, 1985). It's not as clean as Harlan's, but I add it here for the sake of reference.

See the "Just Passing Thruough" manuscript by Lonnie Chevrie -- which also includes his "finger through dollar."
Great and visual impromptu magic. |

For the BPBN, as mentioned it is merged into the product "misleading misled" over at http://www.expertmagic.com.
or, you can ask alan about it directly over at his message board. http://www.alanrorrison.tk check them out. |

Another vote for Alan Rorrison's pen-thru-bill effects: Misleading Misled and Real Pen-etration. They are the two phases of Misled but with borrowed items and no gimmick. I think Real Pen-etration looks better than Now U-Z It, but it can't be done surrounded whereas Harlan's effect can.

I tried Jay Sankey's and David Harkey's version, but I never felt comfortable with the cover-- including the use of a post-it note. I love Dan Harlan's Now U-Z It, but my favorite is a version that uses a cocktail napkin. Basically a borrowed bill gets wrapped in a ungimmicked cocktail napkin and is then penetrated with a borrowed pen. This can even be done surrounded. I have no idea whose this is, but it really fooled me.

It's interesting that there aren't more impromptu pen through bill effects out there for sale. I know there are a lot of them. Just look on Magic Video Depot. I have one of my own. But I suppose not many people are willing to give them up as they are fantastic when they look good. Pet effects, perhaps?
