Hi, recently I have begun to like rope magic, I was wondering if there are any good Dvds, or books that have good resources on rope magic, close up, but that also has cards, or close up effects, must be impromptu,
thanks

Check out Aldo Colombini's videos. The Classical Magic one is excellent. He's great with ropes and cards. His Lasting Impression videos which are not on his website may be no longer available but you could probably get them on Ebay or a from a dealer.

What is best for close up, and with a rope that is about the size of the one used in relentless ring and string, vol 1 or 2,

Fiber Optics by Richard Sanders is far and above the most versitle and customizable rope routine I've seen. It's fast, fun and extremely magical.
It's also perfect for close up.

L&L Publishing still has some volumes available, and they are on sale. I just recieved two volumes this week. Do a Google as well as there are hundreds of online magic shops , some of which are sure to have volumes you are unable to find elsewhere. I agree with L.B. they are very good videos.

They teach rope, cards, cups and balls. Each tape is different but most contain rope and card tricks, you will have to look at the contents listing for each tape for exact tricks or routines . He teaches ( or at least demonstrates ) the sleights required and gives presentation tips. He is thorough enough that with practice a beginner can perform what he teaches.

I'd try the newly (re) released encyclopedia of rope magic by Stewart James.

It's really all you need to start with.

Either get Ringleader or Tabary.

Fiber optics is great but they are hard to get until the supplies are replenished.
Whit Haydn's Mongolian Pop Knot is quite good as well.
Steve Bedwells' "In over your head" is astoundingly good and in booklet form.
Daryl's is entertaining.
Ropesational and Sandsational by George Sands were the basis for most of the good ones.

If you're completely new to rope magic, you could learn a simple cut and restored.
Remember, it doesn't have to be some epic monolithic routine when you're new to the topic.

Fiber optics is very visual, eye candy with a rope but not more difficult. Great combo.
Whit's has some good ideas and a great routine.
Daryl's has some great gags and a well thought out routine, too long for me tho.
Steve Bedwell's is a must have on rope, comedy, comedy theory, etc.

I have an extra if someone wants the Bedwell routine.
it was performed at the IBM convention in reno on the big stage the last night.
Very well received comedy with spectator involvement.
