I need someone to help me!
I was instructed by my Faculty to perform a magic show for orphan kids... I find a difficulty to choose the best effect for those kids.. it's my first time to perform in front of children...
Can someone help me?
Thanx

All kids appreciate magic (for the most part), but those who are less fortunate and rarely see something of this nature (magic) will love anything you do.
So long as the magic is age related and they understand the ideas they'll enjoy. Choose effects that allow for audience interaction/participation. Use colour too.
Ideas:
Colouring Book
Sucker Trick (but do not make kids look bad)
I like the sliding card, farm yard
frolics
Rope routines (prof. night mare, cut and
restored routines)
Production Routine (perhaps they could
receieve a little gift/treat)
Spong balls (always a hit)
Blendo Effects (silk rainbows, clown silks,
etc.)- Laflin's Magic has many to choose
from
Hope this helps,
John

Dear Amadeus,
I just performed for a group of young children for the first time last week, they are orphans of a sort, abandoned by their parents. These are some of the effects in my routine,
Cup and Balls with final load of 3 lemons
Torn and Restored Chinese Paper from Tarbell vol. 1,
Silk magic using a dissolving knot and a one handed knot (tarbell vol. 2)
Bringing out my wife to psychically sense the card we were holding up,
Sponge Ball routine,
Using the Double Tape Principle to pass two strings through an orange.
I hope this helps.

I open every kids' show with the Miser's Dream.
I've said this before but it may bear repeating:
Kids don't think you are a "real" magician until you've pulled a coin out from behind one of their ears.
Colorful magic, yes!
If you vanish something, make sure you make it re-appear somehow; otherwise the kids feel cheated somehow.
Productions, the bigger and flashier the better.
