Does this contain practical illusions that are able to be built and performed? Or is it more of history of illusions, but not actually how to build them? Are they good lectures? Thanks.

It contains history and construction theory on two specific illusions, one of creating ghostly images, the other of invisibility/visibility.
I enjoyed reading it, as one of my first books on understanding big theatrical illusions. It's an expensive book. If you're serious into one of the above effects, it may seed your mind with ways to develop your own effects.
